Sirdalud 2 works on the centers of the spinal cord and brain. This helps relieve muscle stiffness and improves muscle movements, thereby relieving pain due to muscle spasms.

✔️ Side Effects of Sirdalud 2

Somnolence, dizziness, fatigue, dry mouth, gastrointestinal issues (nausea, disorder), and decreased blood pressure. Bradycardia, hypotension, muscle weakness, insomnia, hallucinations, and hepatitis.

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Regular exercise helps in muscle stretching so that they are less likely to spasm, tear, and sprain. Mild exercises such as jogging and walking are helpful for muscle stretching.
• Massages can also be helpful.
• Avoid freezing and hot temperatures.
• Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes, instead, wear loose garments.

Take Tizan 2 Tablet with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it.

✔️ Muscle spasticity

Exercise and Stretching:

• Regular stretching and strengthening exercises can improve muscle flexibility, reduce the frequency of spasms, and minimize the risk of muscle tears or sprains. Physical therapy often plays a vital role in managing spasticity, helping maintain mobility and reducing stiffness.

Other Approaches:

• Heat or cold therapy, massage, and certain lifestyle changes (like wearing looser clothing or avoiding stress triggers) may also provide relief.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Sirdalud 2

Dosage and Administration:

• Painful Muscle Spasms:
  • Usual dose: 2 to 4 mg, three times a day.
  • An additional dose may be taken in severe cases, preferably at night to minimize sedation.
• Spasticity due to Neurological Disorders:
  • Initial dose: No more than 6 mg daily, divided into 3 doses.
  • Gradually increase by 2-4 mg at half-weekly or weekly intervals.
  • Optimum dose: 12-24 mg daily, with a maximum of 36 mg daily.
• Pediatric Patients:
  • Use in patients below 18 years is not recommended.
• Geriatric Patients (65+):
  • Start with the lowest dose and increase gradually.
• Renal Impairment:
  • In patients with creatinine clearance <25 mL/min, start with 2 mg daily and adjust accordingly.
• Hepatic Impairment:
  • Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment. Start with the lowest dose in moderate hepatic impairment.

Discontinuation:

• If discontinuing Tizanidine, taper the dosage gradually to avoid rebound hypertension and tachycardia.

Overdose:

• Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, hypotension, somnolence, QT prolongation, and respiratory distress.
• Treatment includes symptomatic management and elimination of the drug with activated charcoal.

• Sirdalud 2 may have interaction with antidepressants (escitalopram, duloxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine), anticonvulsants (pregabalin, topiramate), anti-allergic drugs (diphenhydramine, cetirizine), pain relievers (acetaminophen + hydrocodone), an anti-anxiety drug (alprazolam), sedative-hypnotic drug (zolpidem), bronchodilator (albuterol), antibiotic (ciprofloxacin).
• Sirdalud 2 may interact with caffeine. Therefore, avoid intake of caffeine with Sirdalud 2 as it may cause low blood pressure and dizziness. Also, avoid intake of alcohol with Sirdalud 2 as it may increase the risk of adverse effects.
• If you have low blood pressure, or liver or kidney diseases, inform your doctor before taking Sirdalud 2.

• Contraindicated Drugs:
  • Fluvoxamine, ciprofloxacin (CYP1A2 inhibitors).
• Not Recommended with:
  • Other CYP1A2 inhibitors (e.g., amiodarone, cimetidine), antihypertensives, alcohol, sedatives, or alpha-2 adrenergic agonists (e.g., clonidine).
• Caution with:
  • Drugs prolonging the QT interval (e.g., cisapride, amitriptyline).

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Tizanidine should not be used during pregnancy unless needed.
• Not recommended during breastfeeding as it is excreted in rat milk.

• Monitor for hypotension and renal impairment.
• Gradually taper off the medication to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
• Hepatic dysfunction: Monitor liver function in patients on higher doses.
