Ruvastin 20 contains rosuvastatin, a medicine belonging to the statin group. It is used to lower high cholesterol levels and help reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, including heart attacks and strokes, in appropriate patients. High levels of cholesterol can lead to fatty deposits building up inside blood vessels, narrowing the arteries and increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Ruvastin 20 works by reducing cholesterol production in the liver. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with water, following your doctor's instructions. Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor, as cholesterol levels may rise again.
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, an underactive thyroid, a history of muscle disorders, or diabetes. Ruvastin 20 should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Regular cholesterol monitoring and, when appropriate, liver function tests help assess the effectiveness and safety of treatment.
Alongside medication, follow a heart-healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet, regular physical activity, weight management, and avoiding smoking.
