✔️ Rostab 10 should not be used in patients with:

• Active liver disease
• Persistent unexplained elevation of liver enzymes
• Severe kidney impairment
• Known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin
• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding

✔️ Rosuvastatin works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol production in the liver. This action:

• Lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol
• Reduces triglyceride levels
• Increases HDL ("good") cholesterol
• Enhances the liver's ability to remove LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream

✔️ Common side effects may include:

• Muscle pain (myalgia)
• Muscle weakness
• Headache
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Dizziness
• Constipation
• Fatigue
• Joint pain
• Flu-like symptoms

Less common but serious side effects include:

• Liver problems (jaundice)
• Myopathy
• Rhabdomyolysis (severe muscle breakdown that may lead to kidney failure)

Seek medical attention if you experience unexplained muscle pain, weakness, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

✔️ Rosuvastatin may interact with:

• Warfarin
• Oral contraceptives
• Itraconazole
• HIV protease inhibitors
• Erythromycin
• Antacids
• Fenofibrate
• Niacin

The risk of muscle toxicity may increase significantly when used with:

• Gemfibrozil
• Ciclosporin

✔️ Use Rostab 10 cautiously in patients with:

• Kidney disease
• Liver disease
• Untreated hypothyroidism
• History of alcohol abuse
• Risk factors for muscle disorders

Regular monitoring of:

• Liver function tests (LFTs)
• Creatine kinase (CK) levels
  may be required during treatment.

Diabetic patients should monitor blood glucose levels, as statins may slightly increase blood sugar.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Rostab 10 is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding because it may harm the developing baby. Women who are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or nursing should not use this medication.

✔️ Patient Advice

• Follow a heart-healthy diet and exercise program alongside medication.
• Avoid excessive intake of high-fat foods.
• Continue taking the medication even if you feel well, as high cholesterol often has no symptoms.
• Do not stop treatment without consulting your doctor.
