Lotil 20 is a medication that lowers stomach acid production. It’s primarily prescribed for conditions caused by excessive stomach acid, such as acid reflux, heartburn, peptic ulcers, and other gastrointestinal disorders. It also helps prevent ulcers and acid-related issues linked with long-term use of painkillers. Lotil 20 belongs to a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
Lotil 20 (omeprazole) inhibits the final step in gastric acid secretion by selectively blocking the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) on gastric parietal cells, significantly decreasing acid production—both basal and stimulated.
