Pregan ER works by binding to the alpha2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels, which reduces the release of neurotransmitters and neuronal excitability. It acts as a specific analgesic for peripheral and central neuropathic pain by blocking the transmission of pain signals across the nervous system. It relieves anxiety by reducing the release of certain brain chemicals (GABA) that cause abnormal mood stimulation and anxiety.
