✔️ Dosage & Administration of Glikazid 60 MR Tablet

Glikazid 60 MR Tablet dosage is individualized according to blood glucose control and should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

• Immediate-release tablets: Usually started at 40–80 mg daily, which may be increased up to 320 mg per day if needed.
• Modified-release (CR) tablets: Typically taken once daily with breakfast. The usual dose ranges from 30 mg to 120 mg daily.
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush, break, or chew.
• Always take the medication with a meal.

If a dose is missed, take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to compensate for a missed one.

✔️ Side Effects of Glikazid 60 MR

The most common side effect is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

Other possible side effects include:

• Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, or indigestion
• Temporary visual disturbances
• Skin rash, itching, hives, or allergic reactions
• Changes in blood cell counts
• Liver function abnormalities or jaundice

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Glikazid 60 MR Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy and should not be used while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for alternative diabetes management options.

✔️ Do not use Glikazid 60 MR Tablet if you:

• Are allergic to gliclazide, sulfonylureas, or sulfonamides
• Have type 1 diabetes
• Have diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma, or pre-coma
• Have severe liver or kidney disease
• Are taking miconazole
• Are breastfeeding

✔️ Patients should:

• Follow their prescribed diet, exercise plan, and weight-management program.
• Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c regularly.
• Be aware of symptoms of hypoglycemia, including sweating, tremors, dizziness, hunger, confusion, and palpitations.
• Carry a fast-acting source of sugar, such as glucose tablets or sugar cubes, at all times.
• Exercise caution during periods of stress, illness, surgery, or infection, as blood glucose levels may fluctuate.

Extra caution is required in elderly patients, those with impaired kidney or liver function, and individuals with G6PD deficiency.

✔️ Storage:

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
