Nasoflu is a synthetic trifluorinated corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory properties. It is formulated as an aqueous suspension of microfine fluticasone propionate, designed for topical intranasal use via a metered, atomizing spray pump. Each bottle delivers 120 precisely measured sprays for consistent dosing.
After intranasal administration, fluticasone propionate exerts anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive effects on the nasal mucosa. Although the exact mechanism is not fully understood, its action is believed to involve:
Reduction in inflammatory mediator cells such as basophils, leukocytes, mast cells, and eosinophils
Decreased sensitivity of sensory nerves to mechanical stimuli
Suppression of glandular secretions stimulated by cholinergic receptors
Inhibition of fibroblast activity
Reduced capillary dilation and permeability
Stabilization of lysosomal membranes, preventing release of inflammatory enzymes
1–2 sprays in each nostril twice daily
Maximum daily dose: 744 mcg
⚠️ Regular use is essential for optimal effectiveness. Use as directed by a physician.
Shake the bottle gently and remove the dust cap
Hold the spray upright with fingers placed on either side of the nozzle
Prime the spray if using for the first time or after a long interval
Gently blow the nose to clear nostrils
Close one nostril and insert the applicator into the other
Tilt head slightly forward, inhale through the nose, and press the pump once
Exhale through the mouth
Repeat for additional doses or the other nostril
Clean the nasal applicator at least once weekly
Remove the dust cover and nozzle
Wash with warm water and allow to air-dry
Reattach once completely dry (do not apply heat)
Known hypersensitivity to fluticasone propionate or any component of the formulation
Due to minimal systemic absorption, side effects are generally mild and localized, including:
Dryness of the nose and throat
Unpleasant taste or smell
Increased frequency of nosebleeds (epistaxis)
Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk
It is unknown whether fluticasone propionate is excreted in human milk
Caution is advised when used by breastfeeding women
Rare reports include wheezing, nasal septum perforation, cataracts, glaucoma, and increased intraocular pressure
Systemic corticosteroid effects are uncommon at recommended doses
Avoid exceeding prescribed dosage to reduce risk of adverse effects
