Liconor Oral Suspension 50ml

✔️ Liconor is indicated for the management of various hepatobiliary disorders, including:

• Cholestatic jaundice
• Viral hepatitis
• Alcoholic fatty liver disease
• Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC)
• Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC)
• Dissolution of cholesterol gallstones
• Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)

✔️ Side Effects

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Itching (pruritus)
• Gallstone calcification or opacification

✔️ Dosage & Administration

• Dissolution of cholesterol gallstones: 8–12 mg/kg/day as a single bedtime dose or in divided doses.
• Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC): 10–15 mg/kg/day divided into 2–4 doses.
• Acute viral hepatitis: 600 mg daily.
• Alcoholic fatty liver disease: 300 mg daily.
• Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC): 25–30 mg/kg/day.
• Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH): 13–15 mg/kg/day.

The dose and duration should always be individualized according to the patient's clinical condition and the physician's recommendation.

✔️ Interaction

• Avoid concurrent use with estrogen-containing medications, as they may increase cholesterol levels in bile and reduce treatment effectiveness.
• Bile acid-binding agents such as cholestyramine, activated charcoal, and certain antacids may reduce the absorption and efficacy of Ursodeoxycholic Acid. If co-administration is necessary, an appropriate dosing interval should be maintained.

✔️ Liconor should not be used in patients with:

• Non-functioning gallbladder
• Calcified or pigmented gallstones
• Inflammatory bowel disease
• Known hypersensitivity to Ursodeoxycholic Acid or any component of the formulation

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy:
Ursodeoxycholic Acid is classified as Pregnancy Category B. Available evidence has not demonstrated fetal harm, and it has been successfully used to manage intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, particularly during the third trimester, under medical supervision.

Breastfeeding:
No significant adverse effects have been reported in breastfed infants. However, use during lactation should be based on the physician's assessment of the benefits and potential risks.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in patients with pre-existing liver disease.
• Regular monitoring of liver function and clinical response is recommended during prolonged therapy.
• Follow your physician's advice regarding treatment duration and monitoring.
