Uliv 300 mg contains ursodeoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring bile acid used to manage various liver and biliary tract disorders. It helps improve bile flow, reduce cholesterol levels in bile, and dissolve certain types of gallstones.
After oral administration, the drug is well absorbed from the upper intestine. It reaches peak blood levels within 30–150 minutes, with approximately 60–80% absorption. The liver processes the drug by combining it with amino acids such as glycine or taurine before excreting it into bile. Only small amounts enter the bloodstream or are eliminated through urine. Its biological half-life ranges from approximately 3.5 to 5.8 days.
This helps dissolve cholesterol gallstones and prevents new stone formation. It also protects liver cells and bile duct cells from damage, promotes bile secretion, and reduces liver cell death caused by toxic bile acids.
