• Your doctor may monitor your liver function and bilirubin levels every month for the next 3 months after the start of therapy, and every 6 months thereafter.

✔️ Indications of Stener 300mg Tablet

Stener 300 is used to dissolve certain types of gallstones and to treat primary biliary cirrhosis, a liver disease. It helps break down cholesterol stones in the gallbladder.

✔️ Pharmacology

• Ursodeoxycholic Acid decreases the secretion of cholesterol in bile, reduces cholesterol absorption, and suppresses liver cholesterol synthesis.
• It alters bile composition from supersaturated to unsaturated and promotes the formation of liquid cholesterol crystal complexes, enhancing cholesterol removal from the gallbladder into the intestine.
• Ursodeoxycholic Acid protects cholangiocytes against cytotoxicity, stimulates hepatobiliary secretion, and protects hepatocytes against bile acid-induced apoptosis.
• It is completely absorbed in the upper intestine, enters the portal vein, undergoes extraction by the liver, conjugated with amino acids, and secreted into the hepatic bile ducts.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Stener 300mg Tablet

Adult Dose:

• Oral Dissolution of Cholesterol-rich Gallstones: 8-12 mg/kg once daily or in 2 divided doses for 3-4 months.
• Primary Biliary Cirrhosis: 10-16 mg/kg daily in divided doses.

Take after a meal with milk or water. Swallow whole. The dosage depends on the condition being treated and body weight. Take regularly for several months or longer.

✔️ Interaction of Stener 300mg Tablet

Avoid concomitant administration with bile-acid binding drugs including antacids, charcoal, and cholestyramine, as this may reduce the effectiveness of Ursodeoxycholic Acid therapy.

✔️ Contraindications

Non-functioning gallbladder, calcified and pigmented gallstones, inflammatory bowel disease.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

No evidence of harm has been reported in pregnancy. It has been effectively used for the treatment of cholestasis of pregnancy during the last trimester without any side effects.
