Metronidazole (Vaginal)
Flamyd V Gel kills bacteria and microorganisms by damaging their DNA.
Overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and slight disorientation. Supportive treatment is recommended as there is no specific antidote.
Flamyd V Gel is used for the treatment of women with bacterial overgrowth in the vaginal area. It is characterized by abnormal and foul-smelling discharge, vaginal itching, etc.
Metronidazole, an imidazole class antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent, works by metabolically reducing its 5-nitro group by anaerobes. The reduced form of the drug interacts with DNA, leading to bactericidal effects.
Vaginal Gel:
Administer one applicator full (approximately 5 grams, containing 37.5 mg of metronidazole) intravaginally once or twice a day for 5 days. For once-a-day dosing, use at bedtime.
Metronidazole is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metronidazole or nitroimidazole derivatives.
Metronidazole is classified as Category B by the US FDA. Use during pregnancy should be considered only if necessary. Metronidazole is excreted in human milk, so caution is advised for nursing women.
Store below 30°C and keep out of reach of children. Protect from light and do not use after the expiration date.
