Clarizol is a broad-spectrum antifungal medication effective against dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds, and some gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococci and Trichomonas. It works by altering fungal cell membrane permeability, primarily by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis. At higher concentrations, it also damages the fungal membrane, disrupting growth.

Pack Image of Clarizol 1% Cream — Clotrimazole, the active ingredient, damages fungal cell membranes by inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis, essential for membrane integrity. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell cannot maintain a functional membrane, leading to inhibited growth.
Beyond antifungal activity, clotrimazole impacts intracellular calcium levels by inhibiting sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺ ATPase, blocking calcium-dependent potassium channels, and voltage-dependent calcium channels.
