✅ Description:
Itopride Hydrochloride functions as a dopamine-2 receptor antagonist and an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. By blocking dopamine D2 receptors and inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, it increases acetylcholine levels, thereby enhancing gastrointestinal motility. This results in improved peristalsis, higher lower esophageal sphincter pressure, enhanced gastric motility, faster gastric emptying, and better gastro-duodenal coordination.

✔️ Dosage & Administration
- Adults: The standard dose is 50 mg, taken orally three times a day, preferably before meals. The dosage may be adjusted based on the patient’s condition and response.
- Elderly: Due to possible physiological decline, elderly patients should be closely monitored for adverse reactions. If side effects occur, dose reduction or discontinuation may be necessary.
- Pediatric Use: The safety and efficacy of Itopride Hydrochloride in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established; therefore, it is not recommended for this age group.

Kytido is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of its components. It should not be used in patients where increased gastrointestinal motility could be harmful, such as those with:
- Gastrointestinal bleeding
- Mechanical obstruction
- Perforation

- Anticholinergic medications (e.g., Tiquizium bromide, Scopolamine butyl bromide, Timepidium bromide), as they may reduce the prokinetic activity of Kytido by inhibiting gastrointestinal motility.

- The safety of Itopride Hydrochloride during pregnancy has not been confirmed. Therefore, it should only be used if the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
- Limited animal studies suggest excretion into breast milk; however, due to insufficient human data, it is not recommended for breastfeeding women.

- Anaphylactic Reactions: Patients should be monitored for signs of anaphylaxis, such as hypotension, breathing difficulties, throat swelling, hives, paleness, and sweating. If these occur, discontinue the drug immediately and seek appropriate treatment.
- Liver Function Impairment & Jaundice: Cases of liver dysfunction and jaundice, marked by elevated AST (GOT), ALT (GPT), and γ-GTP levels, have been reported. If abnormalities arise, discontinue the medication and initiate necessary treatment.
- Caution with Acetylcholine Enhancement: Since Kytido enhances acetylcholine activity, it should not be used continuously if no significant improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms is observed.
- PTP Packaging Warning: Patients should remove the tablet from the press-through package (PTP) before ingestion. Accidental swallowing of the packaging material may cause esophageal injury or, in severe cases, perforation leading to serious complications like mediastinitis.
