Metaspray 50mcg Nasal Spray

✔️ Dosage

Allergic Rhinitis:

Adults and children ≥12 years:

Standard dose: 2 sprays (50 mcg per spray) per nostril once daily (total 100 mcg/day)

For known seasonal allergens, prophylactic dosing may start 2–4 weeks before pollen season at 50 mcg per spray (200 mcg/day).

Children 2–11 years:

1 spray per nostril once daily (total 100 mcg/day)

Nasal Polyps (Adults ≥18 years):

Standard dose: 2 sprays per nostril twice daily (total 400 mcg/day)

Some patients may benefit from once daily dosing (total 200 mcg/day).

✔️ Side Effects

• Headache
• Viral infections
• Pharyngitis
• Nosebleeds (epistaxis)
• Cough

✔️ Interactions

No significant drug interactions have been reported with Metaspray Nasal Spray.

✔️ Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to Mometasone Furoate or any component of the spray.

✔️ Using Metaspray Nasal Spray correctly:

• Shake the bottle gently and remove the dust cover.
• Hold the bottle with forefinger and middle finger on the nozzle, thumb underneath. Press down until a fine mist appears. For first-time or infrequently used sprays, release several test sprays.
• Blow your nose gently to clear nostrils.
• Close one nostril and insert the nozzle into the other nostril, tilting the head slightly forward. Keep spray upright.
• Breathe in through your nose and press the applicator firmly to release the spray.
• Exhale through your mouth.
• Repeat for the other nostril if needed.

✔️ Cleaning the spray:

• At least once weekly, remove the dust cover and applicator.
• Wash applicator and cover in warm water, shake off excess, air-dry.
• Reassemble and replace the dust cover.
• (Use only under the supervision of a registered physician.)

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category C: Insufficient human studies; use only if benefits outweigh potential fetal risks.

Excretion in breast milk is unknown; exercise caution when administering to nursing mothers.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use cautiously in patients with active or latent tuberculosis, untreated fungal, bacterial, or systemic viral infections, or ocular herpes simplex.
• Monitor for adverse effects on the nasal mucosa.
• Avoid in patients with recent nasal trauma, surgery, or ulcers.
• Observe patients with increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, or cataracts, or those reporting vision changes.

✔️ Storage:

Store at or below 30°C, away from light and moisture.

Keep out of reach of children.
