Pharmacology

Montelukast works by inhibiting the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor, specifically the CysLT1 receptor. It is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist. Cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) are produced as a result of arachidonic acid metabolism in various cells, including mast cells and eosinophils. Dosage & Administration of Lumona FT 4

Dosage recommendations for Lumona FT 4 are as follows:

For Pediatric Patients (6-14 years):

• Asthma and Allergic Rhinitis: 5 mg/day
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction: 5 mg/day

For patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis, a single daily dosage should be taken in the evening. It is recommended to administer the dose at least 2 hours prior to any physical activity to prevent Acute Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction.
