How does Diprosal Lotion work?

Betamethasone prevents and controls inflammation by controlling the rate of protein synthesis, depressing the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and fibroblasts, and reversing capillary permeability and lysosomal stabilization.

Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine that breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Clobetasol into the skin.

Quick Suggestions:

• Diprosal Lotion is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
• Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
• Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
• After you have applied Diprosal Lotion, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are in the treated area).
• Use a mild moisturizer regularly to overcome the skin dryness during treatment.
• Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.

Indication of Diprosal Lotion

Pharmacology

Betamethasone Dipropionate is a glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, while Salicylic Acid has keratolytic properties, making it effective for treating hyperkeratotic conditions. The keratolytic action of Salicylic Acid facilitates the penetration of corticosteroids. Betamethasone Dipropionate effectively treats dermatoses due to its anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties.

Dosage & Administration of Diprosal Lotion

Scalp Ointment:

• Adults: Apply once or twice daily. Typically, the ointment should be applied to the affected area twice daily for two weeks, with a review at that time. The maximum weekly dose should not exceed 60 grams.
• Children: Limit dosage to 5 days.

Scalp Lotion:

• Apply a few drops to the affected area and massage gently and thoroughly onto the scalp or skin. The usual frequency of application is twice daily, in the morning and at night.

Use medication as directed by a physician.

Interaction

Using other drugs or over-the-counter products simultaneously may increase side effects or affect the efficacy of this scalp preparation. Possible interactions include Acetaminophen, Atropine, Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, Chlorpropamide, and Glucocorticoids.

Contraindications

This scalp preparation is contraindicated for individuals hypersensitive to any of its ingredients. It should not be used in cases of tuberculosis, most viral skin lesions (especially herpes simplex, vaccinia, varicella), or in fungal or bacterial skin infections.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. It should not be used for prolonged periods during pregnancy. It is unknown if this drug is excreted in human milk.

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid use in or near the eyes.
• Do not use it on various skin infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal).
• Discontinue use if irritation or sensitization occurs.
• Avoid applying Salicylic Acid to open wounds or damaged skin.
• Avoid long-term continuous therapy in all patients, regardless of age.
