This is a paracetamol and caffeine combo. Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic with just a little anti-inflammatory effect. Caffeine is a theophylline-like xanthine derivative that is an alkaloid. Caffeine enhances the solubility and transmembrane permeability of paracetamol by forming an intermolecular connection with it. Caffeine also raises the pain threshold and enhances pain tolerance. Caffeine has the ability to increase vascular tone in the brain, which is another advantage in the treatment of migraines and headaches.
Adult dose: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. Maximum dose: 8 tablets daily.
Child dose: Not recommended for children below 12 years.
Anticonvulsants may lower serum levels (e.g. phenytoin, barbiturates, carbamazepine). With extended usage, warfarin and other coumarins may have a stronger anticoagulant impact. Metoclopramide and domperidone help to speed up absorption. Probenecid has the potential to raise serum levels. Chloramphenicol levels in the blood may rise. Colestyramine may decrease absorption within 1 hour after administration. Phenothiazine can cause severe hypothermia.
In individuals with significant renal function impairment and hepatic disorders, paracetamol is contraindicated (Viral Hepatitis). Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or caffeine is well-known.
Although haematological responses such as thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, and agranulocytosis have been observed, paracetamol's side effects are typically moderate. Pancreatitis, rashes, and other allergic responses can happen at any time.
Before using paracetamol or caffeine, pregnant women should inform their physicians. While breast-feeding, you can take paracetamol and caffeine.
Caffeine and paracetamol should be used with caution in the following situations: Patients with hepatic or renal failure, as well as those who are taking additional hepatotoxic drugs. It is best to avoid using the medication for an extended period of time without contacting a doctor.
