Ursolic 150 contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid, a naturally occurring bile acid used to dissolve certain cholesterol-rich gallstones, help prevent gallstone formation in selected patients, and manage primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
It works by reducing cholesterol saturation in bile and promoting the gradual dissolution of cholesterol gallstones. It may also help protect liver cells from the harmful effects of certain bile acids and support bile flow.
The dose depends on the condition being treated and the patient's body weight. Ursolic 150 should be taken regularly and exactly as prescribed. Treatment may continue for several months or longer, depending on the condition. Even after gallstones have disappeared on imaging, treatment may need to continue for a period recommended by the doctor. Ursolic 150 contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid, which reduces cholesterol saturation in bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol synthesis and secretion and reducing intestinal cholesterol absorption.
This makes bile less likely to form cholesterol crystals and helps gradually dissolve cholesterol-rich gallstones. Ursodeoxycholic Acid also replaces more harmful bile acids and may protect liver cells against bile acid-related injury while improving bile flow.
- Dissolution of cholesterol-rich gallstones: 8–12 mg/kg/day, given once daily at bedtime or in divided doses. Treatment may need to continue for several months after radiological disappearance of gallstones, as prescribed by the physician.
- Primary biliary cirrhosis: 10–16 mg/kg/day, usually in 2–4 divided doses. The regimen may be adjusted by the physician according to the patient's response.
- Prevention of gallstones during rapid weight loss: 300 mg twice daily.
- Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: 13–15 mg/kg/day when specifically prescribed.

Take Ursolic 150 in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor.

- Take it regularly at the same time each day to maintain consistent treatment.

- Cholestyramine: May reduce the absorption and effectiveness of Ursodeoxycholic Acid.
- Activated charcoal: May reduce absorption and effectiveness.
- Antacids containing aluminium: May reduce the absorption of Ursodeoxycholic Acid.
- Estrogens: May increase cholesterol secretion into bile and potentially reduce the effectiveness of treatment for cholesterol gallstones.
- Clofibrate: May increase cholesterol secretion into bile and potentially counteract the effect of Ursodeoxycholic Acid.
- Cyclosporine: Ursodeoxycholic Acid may increase cyclosporine concentrations in some patients.
- Ciprofloxacin: Ursodeoxycholic Acid may reduce ciprofloxacin concentrations in some cases.
- Dapsone: Its effectiveness may potentially be reduced.
- Nitrendipine: Serum concentrations may potentially be reduced.

Use Ursolic 150 cautiously and under medical supervision if you have liver disease or other hepatobiliary conditions.
For gallstone treatment, your doctor may recommend liver function tests and bilirubin monitoring, particularly during the initial months of therapy. Periodic imaging may also be required to assess whether the gallstones are dissolving.
Inform your doctor if you experience severe or persistent abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or symptoms suggestive of biliary colic.
