✔️ Side Effects
- For Hypertension Treatment: Common side effects include sinus pain or congestion, back pain, and diarrhea.
- For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: Common side effects include intermittent claudication and skin ulcers.

- Standard Dose: The usual starting dose is 40 mg once daily. Blood pressure reduction is dose-dependent within the range of 20–80 mg.
- Most of the antihypertensive effects become evident within 2 weeks, with maximum effects achieved in 4 weeks.
- If additional blood pressure control is required beyond the 80 mg dose, switching to a combination therapy may be considered.
- No initial dose adjustment is required for elderly patients or those with renal impairment, including those undergoing dialysis. However, dialysis patients should be monitored for orthostatic hypotension.
✔️ Additional Guidelines:
- Telmisartan can be taken with or without food.
- Initial therapy is not recommended for patients aged 75 years or older or those with liver impairment.
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.
✔️ Overdose symptoms may include:
- Hypotension (low blood pressure)
- Dizziness
- Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia) or, less commonly, slow heartbeat (bradycardia)
- Elevated serum creatinine and possible acute kidney failure.
✔️ Drug Interactions
- NSAIDs: May increase the risk of kidney problems and reduce the antihypertensive effect.
- Aliskiren: Co-administration with Telmisartan in patients with diabetes should be avoided.
✔️ Telmipres is contraindicated in patients with:
- Known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan or its components.

- Pregnancy:
- Category C during the first trimester.
- Category D during the second and third trimesters due to potential risks to the fetus.
- Lactation: May pose risks to nursing infants. Weigh the importance of the medication for the mother before deciding to discontinue breastfeeding or the drug.
✔️ Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid fetal or neonatal exposure to the medication.
- Monitor patients with impaired liver or kidney function closely.
- Avoid combining Telmisartan with ACE inhibitors or other angiotensin receptor blockers.
