✅ Description:
Olsart is indicated for managing hypertension—either as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
Olmesartan selectively blocks angiotensin II from binding to AT1 receptors, preventing its vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects. This results in blood vessel relaxation, reduced blood pressure, and improved cardiovascular outcomes, without affecting bradykinin levels or interfering with ACE activity.

- Pregnancy: Contraindicated
- Lactation: Discontinue drug or breastfeeding based on risk-benefit assessment

Usual starting dose: 20 mg once daily
If needed: Increase to 40 mg after 2 weeks
Max dose: 40 mg/day (no added benefit above this)
May be taken with or without food

- Not metabolized by CYP450 – low potential for drug interactions
