Lemodip 1.35 contains Levamlodipine a calcium channel blocker that acts by relaxing the blood vessels. This reduces the heart's workload and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Thus, it helps to lower high blood pressure, reducing the chances of heart attack or stroke.

• Common: Difficulty breathing, dizziness, reflex tachycardia, hypotension, abdominal pain, edema.
• Rare: Diarrhea, back pain, headache, fatigue, nausea.

Lemodip is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension, either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. By lowering blood pressure, it reduces the risk of cardiovascular events, such as strokes and heart attacks.

Levamlodipine, the active component, is indicated for treating hypertension in adults and children aged 6 years and older. It works by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, with a greater effect on vascular cells than heart cells. Lemodip 1.35, a racemic mixture, contains levamlodipine, which is the pharmacologically active isomer responsible for its antihypertensive effects.

Absorption and Metabolism

• Absorption: Levamlodipine has a Tmax of 6-12 hours and a bioavailability of 64-90%, with no significant effect from food.
• Distribution: The volume of distribution is 21 L/kg.
• Metabolism: It is 90% metabolized by the liver (CYP3A4 enzyme). Levamlodipine is excreted mainly through urine (60%), with 10% as an unchanged drug.

Dosage & Administration

• Route: Oral.
• Dosage: Initial dose for adults is 2.5 mg once daily, with a maximum dose of 5 mg once daily. For elderly patients or those with liver issues, the starting dose can be 1.25 mg. Pediatric doses range from 1.25 mg to 2.5 mg daily.

Drug Interactions

• CYP3A Inhibitors: Increase systemic exposure to amlodipine, requiring dose adjustment.
• Simvastatin: Co-administration increases exposure to simvastatin. Simvastatin doses should be limited to 20 mg daily.
• Cyclosporine/Tacrolimus: Lemodip 1.35 increases their exposure, requiring frequent monitoring.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

There is limited data on amlodipine use during pregnancy. No adverse effects have been observed in breastfed infants.

• Increased Angina or Myocardial Infarction: Can worsen angina or trigger a heart attack in patients with obstructive coronary artery disease.

• Overdosage may cause excessive vasodilation, marked hypotension, and reflex tachycardia.
