Indication of Candela 1% Shampoo

Candela 1% Shampoo is used to treat various fungal infections, including skin and nail infections, dandruff, and seborrheic dermatitis.

Pharmacology

Ciclopirox Olamine is a synthetic broad-spectrum antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts, and Malassezia furfur. It exhibits fungicidal activity against various fungi, including Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, and Candida albicans. The mode of action involves cellular depletion of essential substrates and ions, blocking their uptake from the medium. Additionally, Ciclopirox has antibacterial activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It also demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandin and leukotriene, as well as inhibiting the formation of 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase.

Dosage & Administration of Candela 1% Shampoo

Wet hair and apply approximately 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of Ciclopirox Olamine Shampoo to the scalp. Up to 2 teaspoons (10 ml) may be used for long hair. Lather and leave on hair and scalp for 3 minutes. Treatment should be repeated twice per week for 4 weeks, with a minimum of 3 days between applications. Avoid contact with eyes.

1. Avoid contact with eyes or mouth. If contact occurs, rinse off with plenty of water immediately and seek medical attention.
