The drug is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with peak blood concentrations occurring within 2–3 hours. Its elimination half-life ranges from approximately 33 to 38 hours. Most of the drug is excreted through urine, while a smaller portion is eliminated in feces.
Megenox is contraindicated during pregnancy due to the potential risk of fetal abnormalities. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception and avoid becoming pregnant during treatment.
Breastfeeding should be discontinued while taking Megenox because of the potential risk to the infant.
