Montene 10mg Tablet contains Montelukast, which is classified as a Leukotriene Receptor Antagonist. It is prescribed for the treatment and prevention of symptoms associated with chronic asthma and seasonal allergic rhinitis. It can also be used to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm.
Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition characterized by inflammation, swelling, and narrowing of the airways. It often leads to symptoms such as wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest pain, and coughing. Montene 10mg Tablet helps in managing and preventing asthma symptoms by reducing airway inflammation and excessive mucus production.
Seasonal allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, occurs when individuals are exposed to allergens like pollen, dust, or animal dander. It results in inflammation of the nasal lining, leading to symptoms such as nasal congestion, repeated sneezing, and itchy or watery eyes. Montene 10mg Tablet can be effective in treating and preventing these symptoms.
It is important to note that Montene 10mg Tablet is not designed to provide immediate relief during an ongoing asthma attack. It is primarily used for preventive purposes. It is advisable to always carry a rescue inhaler or other appropriate medication to alleviate acute symptoms during an asthma attack.
When taking Montene 10mg Tablet, it is crucial to follow the prescribed duration of treatment recommended by your doctor to achieve better control over your symptoms. Before taking Montene 10mg, inform your doctor about any allergies you may have or any pre-existing medical conditions.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is important to consult your doctor before taking Montene 10mg Tablet, as a precautionary measure. Common side effects of Montene 10mg Tablet may include stomach pain, headache, upper respiratory tract infections, skin rash, nausea, and vomiting. If you experience any troublesome side effects, consult your doctor for further guidance.

Montene 10mg Tablet containing montelukast works by opposing the actions of Leukotrienes. Leukotrienes cause narrowing and swelling of airways in the lungs and also cause allergy symptoms. By blocking leukotrienes, Montelukast improves asthma symptoms, helps control asthma, and improves seasonal allergy symptoms.
Montelukast is used to treat and prevent asthma. It will decrease the symptoms and the number of acute asthma attacks. However, this medicine should not be used to relieve an asthma attack that has already started. This medicine is also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) and treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), including seasonal (short-term) or perennial (long-term) allergic rhinitides, such as sneezing, runny nose, itching, or wheezing. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription.
This product is available in the following dosage forms:
Montelukast is an orally active, selective leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1). The cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) are arachidonic acid metabolic products that are produced by a variety of cells, including mast cells and eosinophils. Cysteinyl leukotrienes and leukotriene receptor occupancy have been linked to the pathophysiology of asthma and allergic rhinitis, such as airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process, all of which contribute to asthma symptoms.
