Xyflo 10 works by blocking the action of leukotriene, a chemical messenger. This reduces inflammation in the airways to prevent asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.

Xyflo 10 Tablet is an anti-allergic medication that contains Montelukast. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist, which blocks a chemical messenger (leukotriene) and reduces inflammation and swelling in the nose and lungs, making it easy to breathe and helping them to improve symptoms and treat a broad range of allergic conditions, thereby minimizing symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, coughing, watery eyes, etc.
XyfloTM is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as leukotriene receptor antagonists. It specifically targets and blocks the activity of the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1). This receptor is involved in the response of the body's cells to cysteinyl leukotrienes, which are chemical substances produced during the metabolism of arachidonic acid. These leukotrienes are released from various cells, including mast cells and eosinophils.
In conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis, the cysteinyl leukotrienes and their interaction with the leukotriene receptor play a role in the underlying pathophysiology. This includes the development of airway edema (swelling), smooth muscle contraction, and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process. These processes contribute to the signs and symptoms of asthma, such as wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, and allergic rhinitis symptoms.
By inhibiting the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor, XyfloTM helps to reduce the effects of cysteinyl leukotrienes on the body's cells, thereby alleviating airway constriction, inflammation, and other symptoms associated with asthma and allergic rhinitis.
The recommended dosages for different age groups and indications for the medication are as follows:
Adults and adolescents (15 years and older):
Pediatric patients (6 to 14 years):
Pediatric patients (6 months to 5 years):
For patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis, a single dose should be taken daily in the evening. This applies to all age groups mentioned above.
To prevent acute episodes of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, a single dose should be taken at least 2 hours before engaging in exercise. However, exercise-induced bronchoconstriction is not recommended for pediatric patients aged 6 months to 5 years.
It is important to follow the prescribed dosage instructions provided by your healthcare professional for your specific condition. If you have any concerns or questions about the appropriate dosage or usage of the medication, it is advisable to consult your healthcare provider for further guidance.
