It has an inhibiting effect on the enzyme tetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase which in turn prevents the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate, a compound necessary for the synthesis of thymidylate, an essential component of DNA.

Methox 10mg Tablet inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolic acid reductase. This enzyme is essential for converting dihydrofolates into tetrahydrofolates, which are necessary as carriers of one-carbon groups in the synthesis of nucleotides and thymidylate. By interfering with this process, Methox 10mg Tablet disrupts DNA synthesis, repair, and cellular replication.

Tissues that actively proliferate, such as malignant cells, bone marrow, fetal cells, buccal and intestinal mucosa, and cells of the urinary bladder, are generally more sensitive to the effects of Methox 10mg Tablet. When cellular proliferation in malignant tissues surpasses that of most normal tissues, Methox 10mg Tablet may impede the growth of malignant cells without causing irreversible damage to normal tissues.

The administration of Methotrexate involves taking it orally as tablets. The dosage and schedule depend on the specific condition and individual response. For psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, it is often taken once a week. It is crucial to follow the prescribed schedule carefully, as incorrect daily intake can lead to severe side effects.
