✔️ How does Methox 2.5mg Tablet work?

• Methox 2.5mg Tablet stops or reduces inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis by altering the body’s defenses.
• In psoriasis, it kills the cells in the skin, which are growing too quickly. It is these fast-growing cells, which cause the raised patches of skin in psoriasis.

✔️ Side Effects of Methox 2.5mg Tablet

Common:

• Sore throat, mouth soreness, loss of appetite.
• Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain.
• Increased liver enzymes, and infections.
• Diarrhea, fatigue, headache, dizziness.
• Rash, hair loss, mouth ulcers.

Uncommon:

• Fever, anemia, decreased platelets.
• Swollen lymph nodes, vaginal ulcers.
• Skin pigmentation, joint/muscle pain.
• Fatty liver fits sensitivity to light.

Rare:

• Swelling, chest pain, depression.
• Diabetes, decreased blood pressure.
• Gum inflammation, acne, vision disturbances.
• Blood in urine, seizures, brain disorders.

• Headache: Stay hydrated, rest, and avoid bright lights.

✔️ Indications:

Methox 2.5mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, in patients who have tried other treatments but their illness have not improved.

Mechanism of Action of Methotrexate:

Folic Acid Antagonist:

• Methotrexate acts as an antagonist to folic acid.

Inhibition of DNA Synthesis:

• It inhibits DNA synthesis, a crucial process for cell division and growth.

Binding to Dihydrofolate Reductase:

• Methotrexate irreversibly binds to dihydrofolate reductase.

Inhibition of Reduced Folate Formation:

• This binding prevents the formation of reduced folates.

Inhibition of Thymidylate Synthetase:

• Methotrexate also inhibits thymidylate synthetase.

Resulting in Synthesis Inhibition:

• The inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase and thymidylate synthetase leads to a cascade effect.
• This cascade results in the inhibition of purine and thymidylic acid synthesis, crucial components for DNA replication.

Irreversible Binding:

• The binding of Methotrexate to these enzymes is irreversible.
