Uses of Trilock 10

• Asthma Prevention
• Seasonal allergic rhinitis (runny nose, sneezing, itching of the eyes and/or nose)
• Exercise-induced bronchospasm (narrowing of airways)

How to use Trilock 10

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Trilock 10 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Trilock 10 works

Trilock 10 works by blocking the action of leukotriene, a chemical messenger. This reduces inflammation in the airways to prevent asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.

What if you forget to take Trilock 10?

If you miss a dose of Trilock 10, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

• You have been prescribed Trilock 10 for asthma prevention and for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose.
• It is a relatively safe medicine with very few side effects.
• Take Trilock 10, 2 hours before exercising if you have exercise-induced asthma.
• It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Use your rescue inhaler to control sudden difficulty in breathing.
• The immune system is affected by stress and raises the risk of being sick. An individual can exercise regularly, meditate, do deep breathing, and try progressive muscle relaxation techniques to relieve stress.
• Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.

Indications of Trilock 10

Trilock 10 mg is prescribed for the prevention and treatment of 

• Asthma.
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction
• Acute Prevention (EIB).
• Allergic Rhinitis (AR) Symptom Relief
• Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Pharmacology

Trilock 10 mg is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor. (CysLT1). Cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) are released by several cells, including mast cells and eosinophils, as a result of arachidonic acid metabolism. Cysteinyl leukotrienes and leukotriene receptor occupancy have been linked to the pathophysiology of asthma and allergic rhinitis, including airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process, all of which contribute to the signs and symptoms of asthma.

Dosage and Administration

Adults & adolescents (15 years & older)-

• Asthma & Allergic Rhinitis: 10 mg/day
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction: 10 mg/day

Pediatric Patients (6 to 14 years)-

• Asthma & Allergic Rhinitis: 5 mg/day
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction: 5 mg/day

Pediatric Patients (6 months to 5 years)-

• Asthma & Allergic Rhinitis: 4 mg/day
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction: Not recommended

Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take only one dose daily in the evening. For prevention of Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction, a single dose should be taken at least 2 hours before exercise.

Renal Dose

Renal impairment: No dosage adjustment is needed.

Interaction

There is no need to adjust the dosage of Trilock 10 mg when taken with theophylline, prednisone, prednisolone, terfenadine, digoxin, warfarin, gemfibrozil, itraconazole, thyroid hormones, sedative-hypnotics, benzodiazepines, decongestants, oral contraceptives, and CYP enzyme inducers.

Regarding food and other factors: Bioavailability and other factors weren't really recognized when it came to food and other factors.

Contraindications

Trilock 10 mg is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• In pregnant women, there are no sufficient and well-controlled trials. Trilock 10 mg should only be used during pregnancy if it is absolutely necessary.
• Montelukast is a medication that is secreted in breast milk. When Trilock 10 mg is given to a nursing woman, vigilance should be observed.

Precautions & Warnings

• Trilock 10 mg is not recommended for bronchospasm reversal in acute asthma attacks, including status asthmatic. Agitation, anger, anxiety, depression, disorientation, attention disturbances, dream abnormalities, hallucinations, insomnia, irritability, memory impairment, restlessness, somnambulism, suicidal thinking and behavior (including suicide), and tremors are all neuropsychiatric occurrences.
• Those who have a cough or cold must stay hydrated. Room-temperature beverages can help with a runny nose, sneezing, and coughing.
• You should be aware that chewable pills contain aspartame, which is not advised if you have phenylketonuria, a metabolic disorder that causes a diminished ability to metabolize the amino acid phenylalanine.
