How does Maxpro 40 Capsule work?

Maxpro 40 Capsule is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of enzymes in the stomach cell. It hence reduces gastric acidity by blocking the final step in acid production and helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn.

Side Effects of Maxpro 40mg Capsule
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Dryness in mouth
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Flatulence
  • Diarrhea
  • Arthralgia (joint pain)
  • Stomach pain
  • Skin rash
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands and feet
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Decreased appetite
Quick Suggestions:
  • To minimize the occurrence of acid reflux or heartburn, it is advisable to avoid consuming foods or drinks that can trigger these symptoms. This includes onions, peppermint, chocolate, caffeinated beverages, citrus fruits or juices, tomatoes, as well as high-fat and spicy foods.
  • Before going to bed, it is recommended to elevate the head of your bed so that your head and chest are positioned higher than your feet. Instead of using multiple pillows, using a single raised block should be sufficient. This elevation prevents stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus.
  • In addition, it is important to refrain from consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Alcohol can stimulate the production of stomach acid, leading to heartburn and acid reflux. Smoking damages the valve (sphincter) that normally prevents the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus.
  • Incorporating high-fiber foods, berries, cherries, leafy green vegetables such as kale and spinach, and black peppers into your diet can be beneficial. These foods are rich in antioxidants, calcium, and vitamin B12, which can help mitigate the potential long-term effects of medication. Fermented dairy products like miso, sauerkraut, and kimchi contain probiotics that aid in preventing excessive stomach acid production. Cranberry juice can also be beneficial for peptic ulcers and H. pylori infections.
  • Avoid sitting for prolonged periods without breaks, as this can increase stomach acid production. Taking a five-minute break every hour to engage in brisk walking or stretching is recommended.

Maxpro 40mg Capsule is generally well-tolerated and provides long-lasting relief. However, there are certain healthy practices to prevent acidity:

  • Limit consumption of carbonated beverages/soft drinks, citrus juices, fried food, and caffeinated beverages like tea and coffee.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking.
  • Refrain from eating late at night or immediately before bedtime.
  • Inform your doctor if you experience persistent watery diarrhea, fever, or stomach pain.

Long-term use of Maxpro 40mg Capsule may lead to weakened bones and deficiencies in minerals such as magnesium. It is important to ensure an adequate intake of calcium and magnesium through diet or prescribed supplements, as advised by your doctor.

If you develop symptoms such as decreased urination, edema (swelling due to fluid retention), lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, rash, or fever, it is essential to consult your doctor promptly, as these could be indications of a kidney problem.

Prolonged use of Maxpro 40mg Capsule has been associated with an increased risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, as well as deficiencies in magnesium and vitamin B12, which can increase the risk of bone fractures. Atrophic gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining) and acute interstitial nephritis (inflammation of kidney cells) are also potential risks.

Indications of Maxpro 40mg Capsule

Esomeprazole is not intended to provide fast relief from heartburn symptoms. Esomeprazole is a medication that is used to treat the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other disorders involving excess stomach acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Esomeprazole is also used to help repair erosive esophagitis. (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid).

Esomeprazole may also be used to prevent stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection or the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. (NSAIDs).

Pharmacology

The H+/K+ ATPase in the gastric parietal cell is inhibited by the proton pump inhibitor esomeprazole, which reduces the amount of stomach acid produced. Esomeprazole (omeprazole's S-isomer), the first proton pump inhibitor with a single optical isomer, offers better acid control than racemic proton pump inhibitors.

Dosage recommendations for Esomeprazole in tablet or capsule form are as follows:
