Norium 10 Tablet works to increase blood flow to the brain and stop the aberrant muscle activity that causes migraines. Although it is a very effective medication for avoiding migraines, an attack that has already begun cannot be treated with it. The medication can help you go about your regular activities and enhance your quality of life by avoiding and lowering the frequency of migraine attacks.

✔️ Pharmacology

Flunarizine is the difluorinated derivative of cinnarizine. It is a selective calcium channel antagonist. Excess calcium transmembrane influx is reduced to reduce calcium transmembrane inflow. Flunarizine prevents calcium buildup in cells. It has no effect on cellular calcium homeostasis. Flunarizine has antihistaminic and sedative properties as well. It has a 99 percent affinity for plasma protein.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Norium 10

• For Migraine Prophylaxis, the starting dose is 10mg at night in patients under the age of 65, and 5 mg daily in patients over the age of 65.
• If depression, extrapyramidal symptoms, or other unpleasant symptoms appear during therapy, the medication should be discontinued. Flunarizine is the difluorinated derivative of cinnarizine. It is a selective calcium channel antagonist. Excess calcium transmembrane influx is reduced to reduce calcium transmembrane inflow. Flunarizine prevents calcium buildup in cells. It has no effect on cellular calcium homeostasis. Flunarizine also has calming and antihistaminic properties. It has a 99 percent affinity for plasma protein. If a patient responds well and requires maintenance therapy, the dose should be reduced to 5 days of treatment at the same daily dose with two consecutive medicine-free days each week. Even if the preventive maintenance therapy is safe and effective, It should be stopped after 6 months and resumed only if the patient requires it.
• 10 mg twice daily, with a maximum dose of 30mg per day if needed for peripheral vascular disease.
• Adults should take 10-20 mg per day for vertigo and motion sickness, while children over 40 kg should take 5 mg per day.
• Adults should take 15-20 mg daily as an add-on medication for epileptic seizures, while children should take 5 to 10 mg daily.

✔️ Interaction of Norium 10mg Tablet

Alprazolam and lorazepam, anti-seizure medications clobazam, clonazepam, and diazepam, sedatives midazolam, nitrazepam, and oxazepam, and muscle relaxants may interact with the Norium 10. (metaxalone, tizanidine, baclofen).

Norium 10mg Tablet is known to interact with alcohol. Additionally, if you use any of the OTC medications, let your doctor know.

When used by individuals who have depression, Parkinson's disease, liver or renal illness, or both,  Norium 10 effectiveness is compromised, and the disease state may even get worse.

✔️ Contraindications

During the first two months of Flunarizine therapy, a small number of women taking oral contraceptives experienced galactorrhoea. Both carbamazepine and phenytoin, which stimulate hepatic enzymes, may interact with flunarizine by increasing its metabolism. As a result, the flunarizine dose may need to be increased.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Flunarizine may cause sleepiness, which is exacerbated when combined with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants. When a loss of mental awareness may result in an accident, patients should be advised not to drive or engage in other potentially hazardous occupations.
• Flunarizine is not recommended for migraine relief. As a result, there is no reason to increase the Flunarizine dosage.
• This therapy may cause extrapyramidal and depressive symptoms, as well as reveal Parkinsonism, especially in people who are predisposed to it, such as the elderly. Flunarizine should be used with caution in such patients.
• Use Norium 10mg Tablet only as directed. Inform your physician if you are currently depressed or have a history of recurrent depression.
