It kills the bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive.

Interaction

• Carbamazepine: Raises carbamazepine levels.
• Warfarin and anticoagulants: Increase prothrombin time.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to cefixime or other cephalosporins.
