Faropen 150 Tablet 1 Strip

✔️ Use Faropen with caution if you:

• Have previously experienced allergies to penicillin, cephalosporin, or carbapenem antibiotics
• Have a personal or family tendency toward allergic conditions
• Have impaired kidney function
• Are elderly
• Have poor nutritional intake or generally poor health

Patients with kidney impairment may require a lower dose or longer interval between doses, as reduced kidney function can increase the amount of medicine in the bloodstream.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

The dose depends on the type and severity of infection and should be determined by a doctor:

• Upper respiratory tract infections: 150 mg three times daily; may be increased to 200 mg three times daily
• ENT infections: 200 mg three times daily; may be increased to 300 mg three times daily
• Lower respiratory tract infections: 200 mg three times daily; may be increased to 300 mg three times daily
• Skin and soft-tissue infections: 150 mg three times daily; may be increased to 200 mg three times daily
• Genitourinary infections: 200 mg three times daily; may be increased to 300 mg three times daily
• Gynecological infections: 150 mg three times daily; may be increased to 200 mg three times daily

Kidney impairment: Faropenem levels may rise and remain in the body longer when kidney function is reduced. Dose adjustment may therefore be necessary.

Elderly patients: Because kidney function may decline with age, Faropenem may remain in the body longer. Treatment may need to begin at a lower dose with careful monitoring. If significant diarrhea or loose stools develops, treatment should be reviewed by a doctor.

Do not change the dose or duration without your doctor's advice.

✔️ Side Effect

• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach discomfort or abdominal pain
• Diarrhea

✔️ Faropen may interact with certain medicines, including:

• Imipenem + cilastatin: May affect Faropenem blood concentrations.
• Furosemide: May increase the risk of kidney-related toxicity.
• Sodium valproate: Carbapenem-type antibiotics may significantly reduce valproic acid levels and potentially increase the risk of seizure recurrence.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

The safety of Faropenem during pregnancy has not been fully established. It should be used during pregnancy only when the expected benefits outweigh the potential risks.

Faropenem can pass into breast milk. Breastfeeding mothers should use it only after discussing the benefits and possible risks with their doctor.

✔️ Faropen should not be used in patients who:

• Are allergic to Faropenem or any of its ingredients
• Have previously experienced a serious allergic reaction to beta-lactam antibiotics
• Have a known hypersensitivity to antibiotics belonging to the same class

✔️ Storage:

Store Faropen at 20–25°C, in its original packaging and protected from moisture. Keep it away from children. Do not use expired or unnecessary medicine; dispose of it safely according to local guidance.
