Farospec 150 Tablet | 1 Strip

✔️ The recommended dosage varies according to the type and severity of infection:

• Upper respiratory tract infections: 150 mg three times daily; may be increased to 200 mg three times daily.
• ENT infections: 200 mg three times daily; may be increased to 300 mg three times daily.
• Lower respiratory tract infections: 200 mg three times daily; may be increased to 300 mg three times daily.
• Skin and soft tissue infections: 150 mg three times daily; may be increased to 200 mg three times daily.
• Genitourinary infections: 200 mg three times daily; may be increased to 300 mg three times daily.
• Gynecological infections: 150 mg three times daily; may be increased to 200 mg three times daily.

Dosage should always be determined by a physician based on the patient's condition.

• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Abdominal discomfort
• Diarrhea

✔️ Farospec should not be used in individuals who have:

• Known hypersensitivity to Faropenem or any ingredient in the formulation.
• A history of severe allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis) to beta-lactam antibiotics.

✔️ Geriatric Patients:

Older adults may experience slower drug clearance due to age-related decline in kidney function. Treatment is generally initiated at 150 mg with careful monitoring. If severe diarrhea or loose stools develop, therapy should be reassessed. Elderly patients may also have a higher risk of bleeding associated with vitamin K deficiency.

✔️ Renal Impairment:

Reduced kidney function may increase drug levels and prolong its elimination. Dose adjustment should be considered.

✔️ Interaction

• Imipenem/Cilastatin: May increase blood levels of Faropenem by reducing its metabolism.
• Furosemide: May increase the risk of kidney toxicity.
• Valproic acid (and related antiepileptic therapy): Concomitant use with carbapenem-type antibiotics may lower valproic acid levels and increase the risk of seizure recurrence.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy: Use only when the expected benefits outweigh the potential risks, as adequate safety data are not available.
• Breastfeeding: Faropenem may pass into breast milk; therefore, it should be used cautiously in nursing mothers after evaluating the risks and benefits.

✔️ Use Farospec carefully in:

• Patients with a history of allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins, or carbapenems.
• Individuals with a family history of allergic disorders.
• Patients with kidney impairment, as dose adjustment may be necessary.
• Elderly patients.
• Patients with poor nutritional status or inadequate food intake, as vitamin K deficiency-related complications may occur.

✔️ Storage:

Store Farospec in its original packaging at room temperature (20°C–25°C). Protect it from moisture and keep it out of the reach of children. Discard any expired or unused medication appropriately.
