✅ Description:
Bestcef 200 is used to treat bacterial infections. It helps manage short-term infections of the urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, ear, bone, blood, abdomen, genital area, and lungs (including pneumonia). It is also prescribed to lower the risk of infections following surgery.
The active ingredient, Cefixime, is an antibiotic that works by disrupting the bacterial cell wall, which stops bacterial growth and kills the bacteria.
It is important to take Bestcef 200 for the full duration prescribed by your doctor, even if you start feeling better, to ensure the infection is completely treated. Skipping doses or stopping early may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.
Bestcef 200 is suitable for adults and children aged 10 years and older, but medical advice should be sought before use.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and bloating. Contact your doctor if any of these cause discomfort.

✔️ How does Bestcef 200 work?
is a powerful antibiotic with bacteriostatic properties. It kills susceptible bacteria by blocking the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Unlike other cephalosporins, it can also remain unaffected by the toxic proteins produced by the bacteria (such as beta-lactamases). Collectively, these actions destroy the susceptible bacteria, manage their further growth and multiplication, and reduce the severity of the infection.

✔️ Before taking Bestcef 200, inform your doctor if you:

✔️ Before taking Bestcef 200, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines, such as:
- Warfarin (a medicine used for blood thinning)

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Bestcef/Cefixime
Adult Dose:
- Acute Bronchitis & Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis, Otitis Media, Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis, Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: 200–400 mg daily, either as a single dose or divided into two doses.
- Gonorrhea: 400 mg as a single dose.
- Typhoid Fever: 20 mg/kg body weight daily, divided into two doses. Typical treatment duration is 7 days, which may be extended up to 14 days depending on infection severity.
Child Dose:
- Children <50 kg: 8 mg/kg/day orally every 12–24 hours.
- Serious infections (convalescent oral therapy): Up to 20 mg/kg/day.
- Children over 12 years: Capsules 200–400 mg daily, as a single or divided dose.
Powder for Suspension & Paediatric Drops:
- 6 months–1 year: 75 mg daily
- 1–4 years: 100 mg daily
- 5–10 years: 200 mg daily
Typhoid Fever: 15–20 mg/kg/day orally, divided every 12 hours for 7–14 days, not exceeding 400 mg/day.
Children <6 months: Safety and efficacy not established.
Renal Dose:
In patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl <20 mL/min), reduce the dose. Maximum: 200 mg daily.
