✔️ Dosage and Administration

Oral administration

• Gastric ulcer: 40 mg once daily, generally for 4 weeks; treatment may be extended if healing is incomplete.
• GERD: 20–40 mg once daily, generally for 4–8 weeks, depending on severity and response.
• Duodenal ulcer: 40 mg once daily, generally for 2 weeks; treatment may be extended if required.
• H. pylori eradication: Pantoprazole is used with appropriate antibiotics according to a physician-prescribed eradication regimen.
• NSAID-associated ulcer prevention: 20 mg once daily may be prescribed for patients requiring ongoing NSAID treatment.
• Zollinger–Ellison syndrome: Higher doses may be necessary, adjusted according to acid secretion and clinical response.

Take oral Proton-P as directed by your physician. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or split it. Follow the specific product instructions regarding meal timing.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Consult a physician before using Proton-P during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It should be used during pregnancy only when clinically indicated, after assessing potential benefits and risks. Pantoprazole can pass into breast milk, so breastfeeding use should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

✔️ Interaction

Pantoprazole may interact with medicines whose absorption depends on stomach acidity. Important examples include:

• Atazanavir and certain other HIV medicines: Acid suppression may reduce their absorption.
• Warfarin: Additional monitoring may be appropriate in some patients.
• High-dose methotrexate: Pantoprazole may affect methotrexate elimination.
• Medicines affected by changes in gastric pH: Their absorption or effectiveness may be altered.

Inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you take.

✔️ Contraindications:

Proton-P is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole, other substituted benzimidazoles, or any component of the formulation.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or a history of low magnesium or vitamin B12 levels.
• Long-term treatment should be periodically reviewed by a physician.
• Seek medical assessment for persistent symptoms, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, vomiting blood, or black stools.
• Do not continue treatment indefinitely without medical advice.
• Proton-P may relieve symptoms without treating every possible underlying cause of stomach discomfort.
