✔️ How does Gaviscon work?
Gaviscon Liquid contains sodium alginate, which reacts with stomach acid to form a gel-like protective raft that floats on top of the stomach contents. This barrier helps prevent acid from moving back into the food pipe (esophagus). In addition, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate help neutralize excess stomach acid, providing dual-action relief from heartburn and indigestion.

Each 10 mL dose contains:
- Sodium Alginate 500 mg
- Sodium Bicarbonate 267 mg
- Calcium Carbonate 160 mg
Other ingredients include:
- Carbomer
- Methyl Parahydroxybenzoate (E218)
- Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate (E216)
- Sodium Saccharin
- Peppermint Oil
- Sodium Hydroxide
- Purified Water
✔️ Dosage & Administration
Adults, elderly individuals, and children aged 12 years and above
- Take 10–20 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times daily.
Children aged 6–12 years
- Take 5–10 mL after meals and before bedtime, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
Children under 12 years
- Use only on medical advice.
