✔️ How does Delanix 60 work?

Delanix 60 is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn.

✔️ Side Effects of Delanix 60

Common side effects include:

• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea and vomiting
• Flatulence

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days as you may be suffering from some other problem that needs attention.
• Delanix 60 should be taken 1 hour before a meal, preferably in the morning.
• Long-term use of Delanix 60 can cause weak bones and a deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.
• If you have taken too much of the Delanix 60 capsule then contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.
• If you missed any dose of the Delanix 60 capsule, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a more dose to compensate for a missed one.

✔️ Indications:

1. Healing of Erosive Esophagitis (EE): For healing all grades of erosive esophagitis, up to 8 weeks.
2. Maintenance of Healed Erosive Esophagitis: To maintain healing of EE and relief from heartburn for up to 6 months.
3. Symptomatic Non-Erosive GERD: For the treatment of heartburn associated with non-erosive GERD for 4 weeks.

✔️ Pharmacology

Dexlansoprazole is a PPI that blocks the final step of gastric acid production by inhibiting the (H+/K+)-ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells. It is an enantiomer of lansoprazole and uses dual delayed-release (DDR) technology, which ensures two peak concentrations in the bloodstream—one occurring 1-2 hours post-administration and another 4-5 hours later.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Delanix 60

1. Healing of Erosive Esophagitis: 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks.
2. Maintenance of Healed Erosive Esophagitis: 30 mg once daily for up to 6 months.
3. Symptomatic Non-Erosive GERD: 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks.

For children and adolescents (ages 12-17), treatment duration may vary, such as 16 weeks for maintaining healed esophagitis.

• Can be taken without regard to food.
• Capsules should be swallowed whole or can be opened, and the granules sprinkled on a tablespoon of food (e.g., applesauce). Granules should not be chewed.
• If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered, but do not double the dose.
• Children & Adolescents: Not recommended for patients below 12 years.
• Geriatric Patients: No dose adjustment is needed.
• Renal Impairment: No dose adjustment is required.
• Hepatic Impairment: For moderate hepatic impairment, a maximum daily dose of 30 mg is recommended.

No reports of significant overdose. Doses of 120 mg multiple times and 300 mg once did not result in serious adverse effects.

• Medicines: Interacts with Atazanavir, Warfarin, Tacrolimus, Clopidogrel, and Methotrexate.
• Food: No significant interactions were noted with food.
