✔️ Uses of Itracare SB 100

• Candidiasis
• Tinea infections (pedis, cruris, corporis)
• Pityriasis versicolor
• Onychomycosis (nail infections)
• Systemic fungal infections
• Prophylaxis in immunocompromised patients (e.g. neutropenia, HIV/AIDS)

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Itracare SB 100

Adults (Oral):

• Oropharyngeal candidiasis: 100 mg once daily for 15 days
• Vaginal candidiasis: 200 mg twice daily for 1 day
• Pityriasis versicolor: 200 mg daily for 7 days
• Tinea corporis/cruris: 100 mg daily for 15 days
• Tinea pedis/manuum: 100 mg daily for 30 days or 200 mg twice daily for 7 days
• Onychomycosis: 200 mg daily for 3 months
• Systemic infections: 100–200 mg daily; up to 200 mg twice daily for invasive infections
• Prophylaxis (neutropenic/AIDS patients): 200 mg daily, may increase to twice daily if needed

Children (Oral):

• General fungal infections: 5–10 mg/kg/day, max 200 mg/day
• Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis: 5 mg/kg/day
• Under 3 years: Safety and efficacy not established

Instructions:
Take immediately after a full meal. Swallow whole without crushing or chewing.

✔️ Side Effects of Itracare SB 100

• Headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash
• Menstrual irregularities, fatigue, elevated liver enzymes, edema
• Hypertension, pruritus, constipation, anorexia, visual disturbances
• Cold symptoms

✔️ Overdose of Itracare SB 100

No documented experience of overdose with Itracare SB. Supportive treatment should be provided in case of suspected overdose.

✔️ Words of Advice:

• Always complete the full treatment course even if symptoms improve.
• Take with food, ideally at the same time daily.
• Avoid antacids within 2 hours of dosing.
• Inform your doctor if symptoms worsen, or if you experience yellowing of the skin, dark urine, or nerve pain.
• Use reliable contraception throughout treatment.
• Regular liver function monitoring may be required.

✔️ Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to itraconazole or excipients
• Severe liver disease
• Co-administration with rifampin (affects the metabolism of itraconazole)
• Use in pregnancy and during breastfeeding is contraindicated unless clearly necessary

✔️ Interaction of Itracare SB 100

Avoid concomitant use with the following due to serious risks:

1. Terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride → Risk of QT prolongation, torsades de pointes
2. Oral midazolam, triazolam → Enhanced sedative effects
3. Statins (simvastatin, lovastatin, atorvastatin) → Risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis
4. Ergot derivatives → Risk of ergotism
5. Methadone, quinidine, pimozide, halofantrine, etc. → Cardiac risks

Other interactions:

1. Rifampin, phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine → Decrease itraconazole levels
2. Calcium channel blockers (e.g. verapamil, diltiazem) → Risk of edema, heart effects
3. Digoxin, cilostazol, repaglinide, corticosteroids → Increased plasma levels
4. Antacids, PPIs, H2 blockers → Reduce absorption of itraconazole
5. HIV protease inhibitors, clarithromycin, erythromycin → Increase itraconazole levels
6. Fentanyl → Risk of respiratory depression
7. Colchicine (renal/hepatic impairment patients) → Toxicity risk
8. Eplerenone → Risk of hypotension and hyperkalemia

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Absorption is reduced in low stomach acidity; avoid antacids within 2 hours of dosing.
• Use caution in patients with liver disease, heart failure, COPD, or renal insufficiency.
• Monitor liver function during extended use (over one month).
• May cause dizziness or visual disturbances—avoid driving or machinery until effects are known.
• Use effective contraception during treatment.
• Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding unless essential.

✔️ Storage

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
