Urinom D Capsule is a combination medication formulated to help manage Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate gland. It combines Tamsulosin, an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, and Dutasteride, a dual 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, to improve urinary symptoms and address the underlying causes of prostate enlargement.
This dual-action treatment helps improve urine flow, reduce urinary discomfort, and lower the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for prostate-related surgery.
Use only under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional.
Pregnancy
Dutasteride may affect the development of a male fetus. Men whose partners are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised to use condoms during treatment to prevent exposure through semen.
Breastfeeding
It is unknown whether Tamsulosin or Dutasteride passes into human breast milk; therefore, the product should not be used during breastfeeding.
Fertility
Dutasteride may reduce sperm count, semen volume, and sperm motility, potentially affecting male fertility.
Patients already taking separate Tamsulosin and Dutasteride therapy may be switched to Urinom D Capsule for treatment convenience, as advised by their physician.
Concomitant use with these medicines may increase the risk of dizziness, low blood pressure, or other adverse effects.
Do not use Urinom D Capsule if you:
Combination therapy should be prescribed after careful evaluation of benefits and risks. Some studies have reported a slightly increased incidence of cardiac failure in patients receiving Dutasteride together with an alpha-blocker.
Patients should undergo prostate evaluation, including PSA testing, before and during treatment. Dutasteride can lower PSA levels by approximately 50%, so ongoing monitoring is important for accurate prostate cancer assessment.
Tamsulosin may cause a drop in blood pressure when standing, leading to dizziness or fainting. Patients should:
Patients scheduled for cataract surgery should inform their ophthalmologist before treatment, as Tamsulosin may cause Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS).
Dutasteride can be absorbed through the skin. Women, children, and adolescents should avoid contact with damaged or leaking capsules. Wash exposed skin immediately with soap and water.
Use cautiously in patients with mild to moderate liver impairment and severe kidney dysfunction.
Patients should promptly report any breast lumps, enlargement, tenderness, or nipple discharge to their healthcare provider.
