Tablets and Syrup
- Children 2–6 years: 2.5 mL syrup, 3–4 times daily
- Children 6–12 years: 5 mL syrup, 3–4 times daily
- Children over 12 years: 5–10 mL syrup or 2–4 mg tablet, 3–4 times daily
- Adults: 2–4 mg tablet, 3–4 times daily; maximum single dose is 8 mg
✔️ Nebulizer Solution
Used with a suitable nebulizer under medical supervision. The solution should never be swallowed or injected.
- Adults: 2.5–5 mg up to four times daily
- Children under 12 years: 2.5 mg up to four times daily; higher doses may be prescribed when necessary
Always follow your physician’s instructions regarding dosage and frequency.
✔️ Inhalation Capsules
- Adults: Usually 1 capsule every 4–6 hours; some patients may require 2 capsules per dose
- Children aged 4 years and above: 1 capsule for relief and maintenance therapy, up to 3–4 times daily
✔️ Exercise-Induced Asthma
- Adults: 400 micrograms 15–30 minutes before exercise
- Children: 200 micrograms 15–30 minutes before physical activity
✔️ Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Salmolin should only be used during pregnancy when the expected benefit outweighs any potential risk to the unborn baby. It is not known whether salbutamol passes into breast milk. Nursing mothers should consult their healthcare provider before using this medicine.
✔️ Use Salmolin with caution if you have:
- Hyperthyroidism
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Vascular disorders
- Diabetes
- Glaucoma
- A history of irregular heartbeat
Prolonged use of high doses may reduce the medicine’s effectiveness over time and increase the risk of side effects. Regular monitoring may be required in patients taking antihypertensive medications or digitalis-containing medicines.
