Salbutamol is a synthetic sympathomimetic bronchodilator with selective β₂-adrenergic receptor activity.
It relaxes bronchial smooth muscles by stimulating β₂-receptors, resulting in airway dilation, improved airflow, and better pulmonary function.

Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml syrup, 3–4 times daily

Children (<12 yrs): 0.5 ml diluted to 2–4 ml saline, up to 4 times daily
Continuous Nebulization:
1–2 ml diluted to 100 ml saline; oxygen may be added to the inspired air when necessary.

Adults & Elderly: 2.5–5 mg up to 4 times daily (max 40 mg/day)
Children (<12 yrs): 2.5 mg up to 4 times daily (max 5 mg × 4/day)
🔹 Injection (I.V. Infusion)
Dilute 5 mL (1000 mcg/mL) Salbutamol in 500 mL infusion solution → final concentration 10 mcg/mL
Infuse at 3–20 mcg/min (0.3–2 mL/min), titrated as needed
Discard any unused solution after 24 hours
🔹 Inhalation Capsule
Adults: 1–2 capsules (200 mcg each) every 4–6 hours
Children (≥4 yrs): 1 capsule, 3–4 times daily (may increase to 2 capsules if needed)
Exercise-induced asthma:
Adults: 400 mcg
Children: 200 mcg, 15–30 minutes before exercise
