Insulet 30/70 is a premixed human insulin injection used to control blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. It may be prescribed for type 1 or type 2 diabetes when insulin therapy is required.
Insulin helps lower blood glucose by increasing glucose uptake into muscle and fat cells and reducing glucose production by the liver. It also influences carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism. The regular insulin component helps manage the rise in blood glucose after meals, while the NPH component provides intermediate-acting insulin coverage.
Insulin may be used during pregnancy when prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional. Insulin requirements can change during pregnancy and after delivery, so frequent glucose monitoring is important. Insulin is generally compatible with breastfeeding, although the dose may need adjustment.

The dose must be individualized according to blood glucose levels, meal patterns, activity, and the patient's insulin requirements. The prescriber may adjust the dose based on regular blood glucose monitoring.
The dose for children and adolescents must be determined by a qualified healthcare professional based on age, body weight, glucose readings, meals, and individual insulin requirements.
Patients with kidney or liver impairment may require dose adjustments because insulin requirements can change. Blood glucose should be monitored closely.
Important: The dose and timing of premixed insulin must be determined by the treating clinician. Do not start, change, or discontinue insulin independently.

Medicines that may increase insulin requirements or raise blood glucose include:
Octreotide and lanreotide may increase or decrease insulin requirements. Beta-blockers can mask some warning signs of hypoglycaemia. Alcohol may also make blood glucose control less predictable.
Store unopened insulin according to the manufacturer's instructions, generally in a refrigerator at 2°C–8°C. Do not freeze. Protect from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
