✔️ Uses

• To improve glycemic control in adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Management of Obesity

✔️ Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, reduced appetite, indigestion, abdominal discomfort

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Dosing Guidelines:

• Start with 2.5 mg once weekly for the first 4 weeks (not for blood sugar control)
• Increase to 5 mg once weekly
• If needed, increase by 2.5 mg every 4 weeks based on response

Maximum dose: 15 mg once weekly

Missed dose:

• Take it within 4 days (96 hours) of the missed dose
• If more than 4 days have passed, skip it and return to the regular schedule

Changing dosing day: Must allow at least 72 

✔️ Preparation & Administration Instructions

• Do not freeze or use if frozen
• Protect from light
• Inspect visually for particles or discoloration before use
• Inject into abdomen, thigh, or upper arm; rotate sites with each dose
• When using with insulin, do not mix; inject at different sites

Note: The prefilled syringe contains natural rubber (latex derivative), which may cause allergic reactions.

✔️ Do not use Tirzep if:

• You’re allergic to tirzepatide or any ingredient in the product
• You or a family member has a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
• You have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)

✔️ Medications That May Interact

Includes, but is not limited to:

• Alcohol
• Aspirin, NSAIDs
• Blood pressure/heart medications (beta blockers, diuretics, etc.)
• Medications for HIV/AIDS
• Hormones (estrogen, testosterone, thyroid hormones)
• Antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals
• Other diabetes meds (sulfonylureas, insulin)
• Antidepressants, MAOIs, and mental health medications
• Herbal supplements and weight loss medications

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Should be used during pregnancy only if needed
• Consider risks of poorly controlled diabetes to both mother and baby
• During breastfeeding, weigh the benefits against potential risks to the infant

✔️ Precautions

• Warn patients about the potential for thyroid tumors (especially MTC)
• Monitor for pancreatitis; discontinue if suspected
• Monitor kidney function in patients with GI side effects
• Watch for progression of diabetic retinopathy
• Evaluate for gallbladder issues if symptoms occur
• Discontinue immediately if severe allergic or hypersensitivity reactions develop
