✔️ Uses

• Neuropathic pain caused by diabetic nerve damage
• Postherpetic neuralgia following shingles
• Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury
• Fibromyalgia
• Partial-onset seizures as add-on treatment
• Generalized anxiety disorder, when considered appropriate by a physician

✔️ Adult Dosage

The appropriate dose depends on the condition being treated, kidney function, response to treatment, and tolerability.

• Neuropathic pain/Postherpetic neuralgia: Treatment commonly starts at 150 mg/day, divided into 2–3 doses, and may be increased to 300 mg/day. In selected patients, doses up to 600 mg/day may be prescribed.
• Diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain: Usually starts at 50 mg every 8 hours, with a possible increase to 100 mg every 8 hours. The maximum recommended dose is generally 300 mg/day.
• Partial-onset seizures: Usually starts at 150 mg/day and may be increased to 300 mg/day. The maximum recommended dose is 600 mg/day.
• Fibromyalgia: Usually begins at 150 mg/day and may be increased to 300–450 mg/day according to response.
• Anxiety: The dose should be individualized by the treating physician.

✔️ Kidney Impairment

Because pregabalin is primarily eliminated through the kidneys, lower doses are required in patients with reduced renal function.

✔️ How to take

Take Prelica CR 82.5 exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It can generally be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Swallow the controlled-release tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break it.

If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses together.

✔️ Drug Interactions

Pregabalin has relatively few major pharmacokinetic interactions, but it can enhance central nervous system depression when combined with medicines such as:

• Lorazepam
• Opioids
• Benzodiazepines
• Other CNS depressants

It may also increase the risk of angioedema when used with ACE inhibitors and may increase weight gain and peripheral edema when combined with thiazolidinedione antidiabetic medicines.

✔️ Serious Symptoms Requiring Immediate Medical Attention

Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical care if you develop:

• Severe skin reactions with blistering, peeling, mouth/eye/genital ulcers, or target-like skin lesions, which may indicate Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes, which may indicate liver problems
• Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
• Severe facial, tongue, or throat swelling or difficulty breathing

✔️ Important Warnings

Pregabalin can cause dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, and impaired concentration. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing hazardous activities until you know how it affects you.

Do not stop treatment suddenly. Abrupt discontinuation may cause symptoms such as insomnia, nausea, headache, diarrhea, anxiety, or increased seizure frequency. The medicine should generally be tapered gradually over at least one week under medical supervision.

Rarely, serious angioedema can occur, causing swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, or airway. Stop the medicine and seek immediate medical attention if breathing difficulty or significant swelling develops.

Pregabalin may also be associated with suicidal thoughts or unusual changes in mood or behaviour. Report such changes promptly to a healthcare professional.

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
