Mirogabalin is a gamma-amino acid derivative that binds selectively to the α2δ subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels. By reducing calcium influx into nerve cells, it decreases the release of neurotransmitters and helps reduce abnormal nerve activity associated with neuropathic pain.
After oral administration, Mirogabalin is rapidly absorbed, reaching peak blood levels within approximately 0.5–1.5 hours. It has low protein binding and is distributed widely throughout the body. Most of the drug is excreted unchanged through the kidneys, while a small portion is metabolized in the liver. Its elimination half-life ranges from about 2 to 5 hours.
