✔️ Uses of Linaglip M 850

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Helps control fasting and post-meal blood glucose levels
• Supports long-term diabetes management alongside diet and exercise

Maintaining good blood glucose control may help reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications. However, this medicine does not guarantee prevention of kidney damage, blindness, heart attack, or stroke.

• Diarrhoea
• Nausea and vomiting
• Abdominal discomfort or indigestion
• Decreased appetite
• Headache
• Nasal congestion or nasopharyngitis
• Cough
• Hypoglycaemia, particularly when used with insulin or sulphonylureas
• Skin itching or allergic reactions

Serious Side Effects

Seek prompt medical attention if you experience:

• Possible lactic acidosis: unusual muscle pain, severe weakness, difficulty breathing, unusual sleepiness, feeling cold, or persistent abdominal symptoms.
• Possible pancreatitis: persistent, severe abdominal pain, sometimes radiating to the back, with or without vomiting.
• Severe allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing.

✔️ Dosage and Administration

• The dose should be individualized by the treating physician according to blood glucose levels, kidney function, current treatment, and tolerability.
• Take the medicine with meals to reduce stomach-related side effects.
• Swallow the tablet whole if it is a formulation intended to be swallowed whole. Do not crush, chew, or split it unless the product instructions permit this.
• Take it regularly at the prescribed time.
• Do not change the dose or stop treatment without consulting your doctor.

Important: The exact linagliptin-to-metformin strength and whether the tablet is immediate-release or extended-release must be verified before specifying a dosing schedule. Dosing recommendations for other strengths or brands should not automatically be applied to Linaglip M 850.

✔️ Linaglip M 850 should not be used in patients with:

• Known serious hypersensitivity to linagliptin, metformin, or any ingredient in the product.
• Severe renal impairment, including an eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m².
• Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis.
• It may also be unsuitable during acute conditions that can impair kidney function or cause tissue hypoxia, such as severe dehydration, shock, or certain serious infections. Your doctor will determine whether treatment is appropriate.

✔️ Precautions and Warnings

• Kidney problems: Kidney function must be assessed before treatment and monitored periodically because metformin can increase the risk of lactic acidosis when kidney function is significantly impaired.
• Liver disease: Inform your doctor about liver problems, as they may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.
• Heart or respiratory conditions: Severe conditions associated with reduced tissue oxygen supply require careful medical assessment.
• Pancreatitis: Tell your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis or develop persistent, severe abdominal pain.
• Alcohol: Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and may contribute to low blood glucose.
• Surgery or contrast imaging: Inform your healthcare team if you are scheduled for surgery or an imaging procedure involving iodinated contrast. Metformin may need to be temporarily withheld, depending on the procedure and your clinical condition.
• Low blood glucose: Recognize symptoms such as sweating, shaking, hunger, dizziness and confusion. The risk is higher when this medicine is combined with insulin or sulphonylureas.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before using this medicine. Treatment may need to be reviewed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
