How does Clinface Gel work?

Clinface Gel effectively controls acne breakouts. It contains two medicines namely, clindamycin and tretinoin. Clindamycin prevents the growth and multiplication of acne-causing bacteria on the skin. Tretinoin controls acne breakouts by preventing the skin pores from getting clogged with sebum (oil) and dead skin cells. It regulates the growth of skin cells and sheds the excessive dead skin cells that clog the hair follicles in areas affected by acne and helps your skin renew itself more quickly.

• Dryness

Quick Suggestions:

• Clindamycin + Tretinoin should be applied as a thin layer onto clean, dry, unbroken skin affected by acne.
• Clean the area to be treated with water and a non-medicated soap, and let it dry for 20-30 minutes before applying the medicine.
• It may cause minor burning, stinging, or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away.
• Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas.
• Avoid exposure to sunlight while using Clindamycin + Tretinoin as it increases the sensitivity of your skin. Use protective measures such as sun-cream or protective clothing.
• You are advised to apply any other lotions, creams, or ointments including cosmetics and moisturizers after 30 minutes of applying Clinface Gel as using both simultaneously may reduce the effectiveness of Clinface Gel.
• Avoid contact with Clinface Gel with the nose, mouth, eyes, or ears. In case Clinface Gel comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water.
• Do not squeeze, pop, or pick spots as it may worsen them and cause permanent scarring.

Indication

Clinface Gel is a combination medication used to treat acne, which commonly manifests as spots or pimples on the face, chest, or back. This medication is effective in rejuvenating sun-damaged skin by targeting the bacteria responsible for acne.

Pharmacology

Clinface Gel contains two main active ingredients: Clindamycin phosphate, an antimicrobial lincosamide, and Tretinoin, a retinoid. Clindamycin works by binding to the 50s ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, hindering peptide chain elongation and suppressing bacterial protein synthesis. It inhibits the activity of Propionibacterium acne and reduces the occurrence of acne. Tretinoin, on the other hand, reduces the cohesiveness of follicular epithelial cells and increases their turnover rate. This action helps unclog pores and release comedones (blackheads and whiteheads).

Dosage & Administration of Clinface Gel

To use Clinface Gel, gently wash your face with mild soap and water before bedtime, and pat your skin dry. Apply the gel gently to the face using your fingertips. In the morning, apply sunscreen after applying the gel. Limit face washing to two or three times a day as needed.

The safety and efficacy of Clinface Gel in children under the age of 12 have not been established.

Interaction

Drug-Drug Interactions:

• Antibiotics: Clinface Gel may interact with certain antibiotics like erythromycin and metronidazole. It's important to inform your doctor if you are using or plan to use any of these antibiotics, as they may have interactions.
• Blood Thinner: When using Clinface Gel alongside blood thinners like warfarin, there could be interactions. Your doctor should be aware if you are taking blood thinners.
• Keratolytic Agents: Clinface Gel may interact with other topical agents used for skin conditions, such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Discuss their use with your doctor to prevent potential interactions.
• Skeletal Muscle Relaxants: Certain skeletal muscle relaxants like atracurium and cisatracurium may have interactions with Clinface Gel. Inform your doctor if you are using these medications.

Drug-Food Interactions:

• Grapefruit Juice: Grapefruit juice may interact with some medications, affecting their absorption and effectiveness. It's important to let your doctor know if you consume grapefruit juice while using Clinface Gel.
• Alcohol: Alcohol consumption should be discussed with your doctor before using Clinface Gel. Alcohol can potentially increase the risk of skin irritation or adverse reactions.

Drug-Disease Interactions:

• Intestinal Problems: If you have any intestinal problems or conditions, it's essential to inform your doctor before using Clinface Gel.
• Eczema: Individuals with eczema should also notify their doctor before starting treatment with Clinface Gel, as specific precautions may be necessary.

Contraindications

Clinface Gel should not be used by individuals who are hypersensitive to Clindamycin, Tretinoin, or any other component of the gel.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Clinface Gel is not recommended for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Women of childbearing age should use an appropriate contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy during treatment.

Precautions & Warnings

Be cautious when using Clinface Gel in conjunction with other potentially irritating topical products, such as abrasive cleansers, soaps, cosmetics with a strong drying effect, and products containing high concentrations of alcohol, astringents, spices, or lime. Combining Clindamycin and Tretinoin with Erythromycin reduces the efficacy of both medications. Therefore, Clindamycin should not be used concurrently with Erythromycin. When used together with neuromuscular medications, Clindamycin may enhance the effects of these medications. Use caution when performing activities that require neuromuscular function in this case.

Storage Conditions

Clinface Gel should be stored below 30°C, protected from light and moisture, and kept out of the reach of children.
