Clotrimazole, the active ingredient, is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. It functions by binding to phospholipids in the cell membrane, altering cell wall permeability, and causing the loss of essential intracellular components in the fungus.
Fungal ear infections, also known as otomycosis, can be quite uncomfortable and may present with various symptoms. These infections are typically caused by fungi invading the ear canal, and they are more common in regions with hot and humid climates. Here are some of the common symptoms and treatment options for fungal ear infections:

The treatment of fungal ear infections typically involves the following:
Clotrimazole interferes with the cell membranes of fungi and yeasts, leading to their destruction. It inhibits the formation of ergosterol, a crucial component of fungal cell membranes, which increases membrane permeability and causes leakage of vital fungal elements.
To use Clarizol Ear Drop, instill 2-3 drops into the affected ear two or three times daily. Continue treatment for at least two weeks after the infection clears to prevent recurrence.
Be cautious when using Clarizol Ear Drop in conjunction with Sofradex ear drops, as there have been reports of a heat reaction.
This medication is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients. While Clotrimazole is generally well-tolerated when applied locally, rare side effects like erythema, stinging, edema, pruritus, and general irritation have been reported.
Precautions should be taken when using this medication in children under three years of age, during pregnancy, and while breastfeeding. If any local intolerance occurs, discontinue the medication and seek appropriate treatment. Clotrimazole ear drops are not intended for use in the eyes.
If local intolerance develops, consider discontinuing the drug and initiating suitable therapy. Never use Clotrimazole ear drops in the eyes.
Store Clarizol Ear Drop away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place, and keep it out of the reach of children. Also, be aware that it should not be used for more than four weeks after opening.
