Indications of Calcin 500 Tablet
Typically used to treat or prevent calcium deficiency in patients who do not have access to dietary supplements. Hypoparathyroidism, achlorhydria, chronic fatigue, vitamin D deficiency, steatorrhea, sprue, pregnancy and lactation, menopause, pancreatitis, renal failure, alkalosis, and hyperphosphataemia are all conditions associated with calcium deficiency. Calcium carbonate is increasingly being used to treat hyperphosphataemia in chronic renal failure patients as well as those on continuous walking peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and hemodialysis. Many patients are unable to tolerate adequate measurements for total phosphate control and require additional measures such as strict dietary phosphate restriction or moderately low dosages of aluminum hydroxide. Calcium carbonate arrangements can provide short-term relief from dyspeptic frameworks but are not recommended for long-term treatment of peptic ulceration. This 1000 mg tablet is used to quickly relieve acid indigestion, heartburn, sour stomach, and upset stomach caused by hyperlipidemia.
Pharmacology of Calcin 500 Tablet
Salt and water are formed when calcium carbonate reacts with stomach acid. CaCO3 + 2HCl = CaCl2 + H2O + CO2 is the proposed chemical process for calcium carbonate.
It takes two grams of calcium carbonate to raise the pH of 100 mL of hydrochloric acid above 6. When the pH of the stomach rises, the action of pepsin in gastric secretion is reduced. Up to 30% of calcium taken orally may be absorbed.
Dosage & Administration of Calcin 500 Tablet
Interaction of Calcin 500 Tablet
Calcium carbonate may enhance the cardiac effects of digoxin and other cardiac glycosides if systemic hypercalcemia occurs. When calcium carbonate is used as the primary phosphate binder, it may interfere with the absorption of concomitantly administered tetracycline formulations, and vitamin D therapy may need to be modified in chronic renal failure to avoid hypercalcemia.
Contraindications
Side Effects of Calcin 500 Tablet
Calcium carbonate used orally can irritate the gastrointestinal tract. It's also possible that it'll make you constipated. Hypercalcemia is rarely caused by calcium alone, but it can happen when substantial doses of calcium are given to patients with chronic renal failure.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Oral calcium supplementation or antacid therapy with calcium-containing medications has been widely used in pregnancy. Lactating women can also benefit from calcium carbonate.
Precaution & Warning
Renal impairment, hypoparathyroidism, and hypercalcemia-related diseases are all possibilities. In achlorhydria, calcium absorption is impaired; use an alternative salt and take it with food. When used in patients with a history of kidney stones, use it with caution. Lactation is risk-free; it crosses the placenta and appears in breast milk.
Storage Conditions
Store at a controlled room temperature in a cool, dry place.
