✔️ How does Onaseron Oral Solution work?

During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgery, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Onaseron Oral Solution just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on the vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

✔️ Pharmacology

Ondansetron is a potent and highly selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Its precise mode of action in controlling nausea and vomiting is not fully known. Chemotherapeutic agents and radiotherapy can release 5-HT in the small intestine, initiating a vomiting reflex via 5-HT3 receptors on vagal afferents. Ondansetron blocks this reflex. The release of 5-HT in the area postrema (brainstem) may also contribute to emesis through a central mechanism. Thus, ondansetron likely manages nausea and vomiting by antagonizing 5-HT3 receptors in both the peripheral and central nervous systems. The mechanism for post-operative nausea and vomiting may involve similar pathways.

✔️ Directions of use:

Take Onaseron Oral Solution in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Ondasat Oral Solution may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

✔️ Interaction

Onaseron Oral Solution may cause a serious reaction when used with certain medicines like pain killers (acetaminophen, tramadol, ibuprofen), anti-anxiety (pregabalin, lorazepam), and antiparkinson medicine (apomorphine). 

The use of Onaseron Oral Solution is restricted in people with hypokalemia (low potassium) and severe liver disease.

Contraindicated in patients known to have hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

Onaseron should not replace nasogastric suction in cases of gastric or intestinal peristalsis issues. It may mask progressive ileus or gastric distension post-abdominal surgery or chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
